A roasted organic Kabuse from Kagoshima with a calm roast profile
Houjicha Kabuse combines the green origin of a shaded Japanese tea with the warm side of roasting. In the cup, it is understated and pleasantly clear – a tea for late afternoon, evening, or whenever you are looking for more roast notes.
On the palate, hazelnut and fine woods come to the fore. The profile is roasted, soft on the palate and without intrusive bitterness; this Houjicha also works well as a cold brew or with protein-rich meals.
The tea comes from Kagoshima, an important tea region in southern Japan, and is processed from leaves of the spring harvest Ichibancha as well as the summer harvest Nibancha. The leaves grow under Jikase-kaen, direct shading on the plant, for 7 to 14 days.
The medium steaming level (Chumushi) strikes a balance between clear structure and more body; the roasting then shapes the warm character of this Houjicha. Certified organic to DE-ÖKO-013 and in a 50 g pack.
