A striped Tokoname Kyusu for precisely brewed Japanese tea
This Kyusu combines Japanese restraint with clear functionality. The side-handle teapot comes from Tokoname in Aichi Prefecture and features a reddish-brown natural glaze and a tactile striped texture.
With a 270 ml capacity, it is ideal for Sencha, Gyokuro, and Kabusecha. The side handle supports controlled pouring from the wrist, while the permanently installed stainless steel round filter retains leaf particles.
Tokoname clay is described in the old description as iron-rich and mentioned in connection with tannins and Umami. This creates a calm framework in the cup for Japanese loose leaf teas, without the teapot drawing attention to itself.
For care, hot water after use is sufficient. This keeps the teapot’s surface free of detergent and ready for the next infusion.
